Ich darf mich als Organisations-Fuchs bezeichnen. Geordnetes Chaos existiert in meiner Welt nicht. Ordnung muss sein. Daher muss wohl auch dieser Wochenplaner ganz schnell her. 

THINGS TRAVEL TIP: LES CINQ DJELLABAS MARRAKECH

When driving on the bumpy, non-asphalted road to the hotel it is not perceptible at all what is  about to reveal behind the walls.  I wouldn’t think of this beautiful boutique hotel which is embedded in a park full of lush olive trees. 

A hotel whose style can  be described with the words „modern“, „timeless“ and  „traditional caftsmanship“ . The latter matches the contemporary style in a very harmonious way. If you are looking for the typical Morrocan mosaics though you won’t find them here.  Instead it’s traditional woodcarvings you can marvel at. 

It was exactly this stlye which drew my attention to the hotel. It is different than the others. And that is what I like.

Die Zufahrt zum Hotel - eine unasphaltierte, rumpelige Straße -  lässt nicht annähernd vermuten was sich gleich hinter den Mauern auftut. Nämlich ein wunderschönes Boutiquehotel inmitten einer großen, Parkanlage voll üppiger Olivenbäume. 

Ein Hotel dessen Stil sich am besten mit den Worten „modern“, „zeitlos“ und  „traditionelle Handwerkskunst“ beschreiben lässt. Letztere fügt sich harmonisch in den zeitgenössischen Stil. Klassische Mosaikverzierungen sucht man hier vergebens, dafür gibt es aber überall traditionelle Holzschnitzereien zu bewundern. 

Es war genau der Stil, der mich auf das Hotel aufmerksam gemacht hat. Es ist einfach anders als die anderen und das mag ich. 

In the main house the lobby with the reception and the restaurant can be found. You will look in vain for classic rooms at Les Cinq Djellabas because it’s the spacious bungalows  spread all over the park you reside in. In total there are ten. This means, if the hotel is fully booked, it hosts only 20 guests . It’s the perfect hideaway for everybody who wants to escape the hurly-burly of everyday life but also the hustle and bustle oft he medina of Marrakech. 

The spacious bungalows are equipped with all common amenities – minibar, flatscreen TV, aircondition, safe, and free WIFI. Of course. 

What I found very special was the private back yard I could enter directly from the bathroom. Not that we didn’t have our privacy in the front yard but the back yard belonged to us only during our stay. We only had to share it with the cute little lizzards which came by every now and then.

Das Haupthaus beherbergt die Lobby samt Rezeption und das Restaurant. Zimmer im eigentlichen Sinn sucht man im Les Cinq Djellabas vergeblich. Denn dort residiert man in großzügigen Bungalows, die sich verteilt in der Parkanlage befinden. Insgesamt gibt es davon 10. Das heisst, ist das Hotel voll besetzt, beherbergt es gerade mal 20 Gäste. Ideal also für alle, die dem Trubel des Alltags aber auch dem Trubel der Medina entfliehen möchten. 

Die Bungalows verfügen über alle Annehmlichkeiten – Minibar, Fachbild-TV, Klimaanlage, Safe und kostenloses WIFI. Klar! 

Vom Badezimmer aus, konnte man direkt raus in den uneinsichtigen Garten hinterm Bungalow. Es ist nicht so, dass man vor dem Bungalow keine Privatsphäre hätte, denn die Bungalows stehen nicht dicht gedrängt nebeneinander, aber der hintere Teil des Gartens gehört einem tatsächlich ganz alleine. Man teilt ihn sich maximal mit kleinen entzückenden Eidechsen, die sich ab und an blicken lassen. 

When on vacation I need to relax. When visiting a city it’s very important to me to have a safe haven.  In Marrakech Les Cinq Djellabas equals an oasis you can leave all cares behind. 

The hotel is about 15 minutes away from the city center. With a shuttle organized by the staff we could go to the medina whenever we wanted to.  We enjoyed exploring the city a lot. But it always was a pleasure retourning to the hotel to clebrate sweet idleness at the awesome pool, sip cocktails and enjoy delicious snacks which were served from the most warmhearted and charming staff I’ve ever experienced. 

Even if there is a beautiful restaurant we always had our meals somewhere in the garden. The staff set a table for us wherever we wanted to eat – in front oft he bungalow or beneath a tree. Everything was possible.  It was like paradise.

Wenn ich auf Urlaub fahre, möchte ich entspannen um meine Akkus wieder aufzuladen. Bei Städtereisen ist es mir deshalb besonders wichtig, einen Rückzugsort zu haben.  Im Fall von Marrakech, konnten wir es nicht besser treffen. Das Les Cinq Djellabas gleicht einer Oase in der man sich sofort fallen lassen kann. 

Wenn uns nach Stadt war, haben wir einfach ein Shuttle in die belebte Medina gebucht. Innerhalb von 15 Minuten waren wir mitten im Geschehen. 

Wenn wir aber einfach nur die Seele baumeln lassen wollten, sind wir im Hotel geblieben, haben beim megaschönen Pool das Nichtstun zelebriert, Cocktails geschlürft und Snacks genossen, die übrigens vom entzückendsten, warmherzigsten und freundlichsten Personal, das man sich vorstellen kann, serviert wurden. 
Genauso wie beim Frühstück und beim Abendessen, konnte man auch die Snacks im Garten einnehmen. Dafür wurde dann einfach an einem beliebigen Ort – zum Beispiel vor dem Bungalow oder unter einem schattigen Baum – alles vorbereitet und serviert. Glaubt mir, wenn ich sage, dass es paradiesisch war!

We stayed at the hotel during off-season and Ramadan at the same time. This was the reason the hotel wasn’t fully booked and we hat to share the premises only with two other couples we got to see rarely. Most of the time we had the whole facility for ourselves. It felt like our private estate.  Something we could get used to. 

In total we spent four marvelous days at Les Cinq Djellabas which went by too fast. It was super hard to leave. The only thing which made it bearable was the fact that we will return for sure. Along these lines: See you very soon, dear Les Cinq Djellabas!

Wir haben das Hotel in der Nebensaison und gleichzeitig auch während Ramadan besucht, weshalb es auch nicht voll belegt war. So haben wir uns die Anlage mit zwei anderen Paaren geteilt, die tagsüber aber meist unterwegs waren. Es hat sich angefühlt, als würden wir uns auf unserem riesigen Privatanwesen befinden. Durchaus etwas, woran man sich gewöhnen hätte können. 

Insgesamt haben wir vier wunderbare Tage im Les Cinq Djellabas verbracht, die unglaublich schnell vergingen. Die Abreise ist megaschwer gefallen. Erträglich wurde sie nur durch das Wissen, dass wir nicht zum letzten Mal hier hingekommen sind. In diesem Sinne: Bis zum nächsten, liebes Les Cinq Djellabas!

At the moment one joyful announcement follows another in my clique. No wonder I put my eyes on possible presents for the parents to be. This book is something I like a lot. I love the idea of documenting every baby step in the first three years. So this book will soon be in the possession of my friends who are looking forward to their offspring.

Baby Journal 'Die Ersten 1.095 Tage Deines Lebens.' von ACD DESIGN.BÜRO. Format: DIN A4, 140 Seiten. 

In meinem Freundeskreis überschlagen sich zur Zeit die freudigen Verlautbarungen. Klar, dass ich gerade auf mögliche Baby-Geschenke anspringe. Das Buch gefällt mir besonders. Der Gedanke, die großen Ereignisse der ersten 3 Jahre festzuhalten ist ein sehr schöner. Daher wird dieses Buch wohl bald im Besitz meiner Freunde sein, die sich gerade auf Nachwuchs freuen.

When I thought of nacre I alsways thought of something outdated and antiquated. But the South Korean label Fict taught me better.

Bei Perlmutt habe ich bis jetzt immer an altmodisches Zeug gedacht. Das Südkoreanische Label Fict hat mich aber eines Besseren belehrt.  

DINNER DATE WITH GEORG JENSEN

Placemats 'Arne Jacobsen' by GEORG JENSEN. Available in grey and anthracite.  Material: damask. The placemats are also available oval.

The characteristic design was chosen from the many sketches left behind at the designer’s death and was launched in 2002 as a tribute to Arne Jacobsen on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. The timeless pattern creates calm and symmetry in a modern table setting and completes Arne Jacobsen’s design universe, which did not previously include table textiles.

Das charakteristische Design wurde unter vielen hinterlassenen Skizzen ausgewählt und 2002 als Huldigung für Arne Jacobsen zu seinem 100. Geburtstag auf den Markt gebracht. Das zeitlose Muster schafft Ruhe und Symmetrie in der modernen Tischdekoration und vervollständigt das Designuniversum von Arne Jacobsen, von dem Tischtextilien früher nicht Bestandteil waren.
